Tonight's NHL Action

Predictions are in red/bold:

New York Islanders @ New York Rangers
Minnesota @ Columbus
Boston @ Florida
Detroit @ Colorado
Buffalo @ Calgary
Los Angeles @ San Jose

Today's notes:

Buffalo squares off against Calgary tonight without their top scorer, Derek Roy. Roy will miss the next 4-6 months with a torn right quadracept. Buffalo has lost 6 of the last 7 on the road and are 3-6-1 so far in December.

Colorado will have their leading scorer, Milan Hedjuk along with Cody McLeod both returning from injury in the lineup for tonight's game against Detroit. Jonas Holos, Brandon Yip and David Koci are expected to be healthy scratches for tonight's game.

Detroit will be without Dan Cleary for the next month after suffering a fractured ankle against Minnesota on Sunday.

Ottawa forward Jason Spezza is out indefinately with a shoulder injury. There is no word on how long he will be out, but the injury is considered to be long term.

Montreal rookie P.K Subban was at it again this morning, getting into a confrontation with Tomas Plekanic and Maxim LaPierre at practice. Veteran Roman Hamrlik broke things up before things got too heated. P.K Subban shrugged the incident off, citing "It's practice, it's battling. It's tough. When you're doing three-on-two drills and three-on-three, there is going to be chippy battles in front of the net. You've just got to work through it. It was a good practice today." Montreal captian Brian Gionta let it be known that confrontations in practice do happen commonly when a player is fighting his way into the lineup. Subban has been a healthy scratch 5 out of the past 12 games for the Habs.

Nashville Predator Jordan Tootoo has voluntarily entered the NHL's substance abuse program. There is no timetable for his return. Tootoo will be paid in full during his leave and looked after by the NHLPA and NHL doctors.
