Tonight's NHL Picks

Picks are in red:

New York Rangers @ New Jersey
Pittsburgh @ New York Islanders
Carolina @ Ottawa
San Jose @ Minnesota
Detroit @ Dallas
Los Angeles @ Phoenix

Today's NHL news and notes:

The Calgary Flames have named Jay Feaster as temporary GM after Darryl Sutter was forced to step down yesterday. Feaster has been given full control to make changes to the struggling Flames and changes are expected to be made sooner rather than later. Feaster was the GM for the Tampa Bay lightning from 2002-2006, winning a cup during his tenure there.

Chicago captain Jonathan Toews is the latest Blackhawk down. He's expected to miss the next couple of weeks with what is believed to be a shoulder injury.

Montreal acquired defenceman James Wisniewski from the New York Islanders yesterday for a 2nd round compensation pick and a conditional fifth round pick. Wisniewski has 3 goals and 18 assists this year.

The Nashville Predators claimed Marek Svatos from waivers today. St. Louis was to sign Svatos to a 1 year deal but he had to clear waivers before the Blues could sign him to a deal.

Toronto assign rookie Nazem Kadri to the Toronto Marlies. Kadri has 6 assists in 17 games this season with the Maple Leafs.
