News and notes:

The New Jersey Devils have traded captain Jamie Langenbrunner to the Dallas Stars for a conditional 3rd round pick in the 2011 draft. Langenbrunner will not play tonight against the Rangers.

Anaheim star Ryan Getzlaf will not return to the Ducks lineup until February. Getzlaf suffered broken bones in his face when he took a puck to the face last week against Phoenix.

Edmonton rookie Jordan Eberle underwent an emergency appendictomy Wednesday night. He was previously out of the lineup with a sprained ankle. The surgery will not affect his time out of the lineup. For tonight's game, the Oilers have put Jason Strudwick in the lineup and gave Kurtis Foster the healthy scratch.

A few days after requesting a trade, the Columbus Bluejackets have placed defenseman Mike Commodore on waivers. The Jackets also placed Kyle Wilson on waivers, placed Ethan Moreau on IR, and recalled Matt Calvert from Springfield.
